RALLY GO PUBLIC Save June 8 for the Go Public rally. The Go Public campaign is making its way into high gear with a barrage of newspaper ads, TV spots, mailings and educational forums for the membership and lawmakers. To top the campaign, PEF will hold the biggest, one-of-a-kind rally on Wednesday, June 8 at noon at the State Capitol. Save the date and plan to be a part of one of the most exciting rallies ever held! Make a difference! Speak out! We’ll meet in the lobby at 625 Broadway and walk to the rally at noon. Lunch will be available to all ralliers. For more information see any shop steward. JUNE 17 is CONSERVATION DAY Tickets are on sale now! PEF/Encon members can get a $15 ticket from their Shop Stewards. CSEA and M/C can get tickets at the table in the first floor Lobby from the DEC Picnic Committee. Several new people - including PEF/Encon Shop Stewards are involved in setting up and running the picnic this year and there is a lot of enthusiasm about returning to the traditional Conservation Day format. Birch Hill, site of this years picnic is a quick, easy drive down I-90, east - its just off Exit 12. Directions from the DEC HQ office: Get on I-787 North and stay in the right-most lane following the sign for "I-90 East Boston". Follow I-90 East to the Hudson/Valatie Exit 12, approximately 15 miles. At end of the Exit 12 ramp Turn right onto Route 9 South and proceed approx 200 yards. Turn right on Duck Pond Road, you'll see a Herbert's at Birch Hill Sign. WATER STREET PARKING OGS has refused to pay for the damages of the seven DEC staff people whose cars were broken into at Water Street. PEFencon is continuing to work to get them paid, but the state is determined to shirk their responsibility to keep the workforce and their property safe and secure. You have the right to contact OGS directly when you notice problems concerning the Water St. pedestrian walkway, Water St. lot and the Water St. shuttle bus service. Shuttle Bus Complaints - 474-8118; Walkway and Water St. Lot Complaints - 474-1287. This will ensure that your complaints are registered with OGS.
